The Pokemon Company reveals total software sales figures, and they are staggering

Nobody is even slightly surprised by the earth-shattering successes of the Pokemon franchise anymore. All we have to do is look back to the peaks of Pokemon GO to see that everyone and their mums were out catching 'mons at every opportunity, and it’s not as though it started there either, with kids on playgrounds collecting, trading and battling beasties since the '90s.
And now, a new update on the numbers that the franchise has confirmed our long-standing predictions - that Pokemon is making money in numbers we can barely comprehend.
Pokemon games have sold 480 million units

Good grief.
The Pokemon Company has revealed on its website some brand new figures for the franchise at large, and they’re utterly stunning.
The end of March 2023 has seen the Pokemon series sell a grand total of 480 million units, after selling 10 million of them in only three days with the release of Pokemon Scarlet and Violet.
It’s an incredible result for the series, but of course, it doesn’t end with the games, as the report states that 52.9 billion Pokemon cards have been produced, and the anime series has been broadcast in 192 countries and regions.
They’re utterly stupendous numbers, but equally, we can’t be surprised that Pokemon is still dominating the video game industry and playgrounds everywhere.
Pokemon unveils new TCG set

As if it wasn’t enough for The Pokemon Company to spill 52.9 billion pieces of card onto streets worldwide, there’s a brand new set coming for the trading card game soon that’ll no doubt amplify the game’s spread.
The new set is called Obsidian Flames, and it comes packed with some brand-new Tera-Type EX cards.
The set looks great, but frankly, there’s no world in which Pokemon needs to sell more. We respect the hustle, but goddamn.
