At long last, the Pokemon that will spawn in each hour of the Pokemon GO Johto Tour have been revealed. Niantic announced the themes of the hourly biomes, but didn’t state which Pokemon each would include.
The Pokemon GO Johto Tour tasks Trainers with a Collection Challenge, requiring catching every Johto Pokemon in some capacity. Knowing which Pokemon will spawn in each hourly block is vital for planning out the day. Here’s when each will spawn, as well as who will be in Raids and eggs.
Note: All times listed are in local time. From 7pm to 9pm, all biomes will be active.
Entire Event Window
There are a handful of Pokemon that will spawn throughout the entire event, rather than being exclusive to one biome.
- Dunsparce
- Qwilfish
- Stantler
- Smeargle (will also photobomb snapshots)
- Hitmontop
- Raikou*
- Entei*
- Suicune*
*The Legendary Beasts, Suicune, Raikou, and Entei will spawn in the wild, but they are difficult to catch and very likely to flee. If you take a snapshot of them in the wild, though, it will complete quests in one of the Timed Research questlines, which leads to encounters with the respective Legendary. For example, taking a snapshot of Raikou in the wild will reward you with 50 Raikou candy and an encounter with Raikou.
Version Exclusives
Trainers with a ticket to the Pokemon GO Johto Tour will need to choose between Silver and Gold versions. Trainers with the two versions will have access to some exclusive Pokemon that are attracted to Incense, and they’ll need to find someone with the opposite version who they can trade with.
Here’s who is exclusive to Incense in Gold Version:
- Spinarak
- Gligar
- Teddiursa
- Mantine
And here’s who is exclusive to Silver Version:
- Ledyba
- Delibird
- Skarmory
- Phanpy
These spawns will be available all day and not locked to any biome hour.
- There are also some differences in which shiny odds will be higher for each version. Check out our guide to the Pokemon GO Johto Tour Gold Or Silver differences for help there.
New Bark Town
9am to 10am, 2pm to 3pm
This quaint town near Johto’s border with Kanto is where the player starts their adventure in the Johto games. It’s here that they’ll pick their Starter Pokemon and set off into the world of Pokemon.

- Hoppip
Violet City

Goldenrod City
12pm to 1pm, 5pm to 6pm
This bustling city was the largest metropolis in the Pokemon games until just recently. Here, players can find the Magnet Train to Kanto, the Radio Tower, a large department store, and one of the infamous Gym Leaders of all time: Whitney, who specializes in Normal-type Pokemon.
These Pokemon can be found during the Goldenrod biome hours:
- Chansey
- Porygon
- Marill
- Aipom
- Wobbuffet

Mt. Silver
1pm to 2pm, 6pm to 7pm
This large mountain is where the best of the best go to train and hone their skills. Only the best Trainers are permitted access, and it’s where the player can encounter Red for the true final boss of the Johto games.
In the main series games, Mt. Silver is home to some pretty rare Pokemon, and that’s the case for Pokemon GO’s Johto Tour, as well:
- Onix
- Seadra
- Misdreavus
- Sneasel
- Slugma
- Swinub
- Houndour
- Larvitar
Raids
There will be Raids ongoing all throughout the event, with some Pokemon that are either exclusive to Raid battles or much easier to find there than in the wild.
Tier 1 Raids:
- Corsola

Tier 3 Raids:
- Heracross
Tier 5 Raids:
- Raikou
- Entei
- Suicune

As part of the event, you can obtain up to nine free Raid Passes by spinning Gyms. You can, however, only have one at a time, per usual.
- Need help with some of those Raid battles? Here are the best Pokemon in Pokemon GO.
Eggs
Baby Pokemon were first introduced in the Johto games, and they’ll also be necessary to complete the Pokemon GO Johto Tour Collection Challenges. Eggs obtained during the event will have a chance of hatching into the following Pokemon.
2km Eggs:
- Pichu
- Cleffa
- Igglybuff
- Togepi
- Tyrogue
- Smoochum
- Elekid
- Magby
7km Eggs:
- Chikorita
- Cyndaquil
- Totodile
- Dunsparce
- Qwilfish
- Stantler
- Miltank
Celebi
It should be noted that all Johto Pokemon need to be caught to finish all of the Collection Challenges, including the Mythical Pokemon Celebi. There’s only one Johto Tour-specific way to catch this Pokemon, and it’s by completing the Special Research questline up to step #8.
Of course, if you have existing Special Research that rewards an encounter with Celebi, that will work as well, but for those who don’t have those, this is the only way to catch it.
- This event is a great opportunity to catch Celebi and Unown, both of whom are among the rarest Pokemon in Pokemon GO!
