It was a victory for the ages, and while we're still basking in our glory after the liberation of Malevelon Creek, some Helldivers 2 players are turning against those fallen soldiers or anyone who fought valiantly in the battle against the Automatons.

Our fight for democracy across the cosmos has already come with many wins and losses, and when it came to Malevelon Creek, we faced an early loss back in February. Determined to liberate this 'Robot Vietnam,' we charged forward and finally freed it from the cold stare of those bloodthirsty bots.

Helldivers 2 rewards us for Malevelon Creek victory

You Helldivers are a determined lot, with many abandoning the Major Order to focus on Malevelon Creek. It paid off, and on April 1, the battle was won for Super Earth, at least for now. Arrowhead Game Studios has rewarded you for your efforts on Malevelon Creek and offered everyone a memorial Malevelon Creek cape

April 1 is now a memorial day, with the President of Super Earth wittily declaring, "Every year on this day, Super Earth citizens will unite for a full three minutes of their lunch break in solemn remembrance of those who gave their lives to free Malevelon Creek." We'll be back next April 1, but some of you won't

While many are wearing their Malevelon Creek cape with pride, there's been an uncomfortable shift in the tide. Others are against the so-called 'Creekers' and are taking them out. It's all High Command's fault, confirming our obsession with Malevelon Creek led to the failure of the Ubneas Gambit.

It seems that we've been too preoccupied with the meme-worthy efforts of Malevelon Creek, leading to a divide between Creekers and anti-Creekers. As well as threatening to teamkill anyone wearing the Malevon Creek cape, Reddit is flooded with memes and stories about being kicked from matches simply for wearing their new garment.

One disgruntled anti-Creeker wrote, "Honestly I think the devs are being too generous giving those players a 'participation trophy' even though they added nothing to the effort. Should have straight up giving them a dunce cap instead."

Someone else was oblivious and added, "I’m completely ignorant as to why people are so mad about it. We all got it, right? It’s got neat colors, too. Like I’ve never stepped foot on that map but I feel like the color combo just works with the suit and helmet combo I’m running right now so why not?"

One gamer pointed out that Arrowhead has said Helldivers 2 won't have PvP to avoid a 'toxic' culture...and yet here we are. If dealing with daily threats of Automatons, Terminids, and the looming threat of the Illuminate wasn't enough, in-fighting threatens to tear Helldivers 2 apart.
