Despite Grand Theft Auto leaks constantly keeping us fed, it's fair to say we were starved of official news by the time the GTA 6 trailer rolled around. Although Rockstar Games confirmed the next chapter of the automotive adventure was on the way, we were left picking through leaks to try and figure out what was going on.

Thankfully, there was no shortage of leaks to pick through, with a September 2022 data breach revealing everything you could want. Alongside confirmation of a Vice City return, the big news was the dual protagonists of Lucia and Jason. However, it's fair to say one of them is outshining the other right now.

GTA 6 players demand #JusticeForJason

The confirmation of the franchise's first fully playable female protagonist has grabbed plenty of headlines, with the GTA 6 trailer putting its focus on Lucia. Given that we're used to the likes of Claude, Tommy, and Trevor, it's a refreshing change that we're getting a woman to show the men how it's done.

Sadly, the positivity of GTA 6 has been overshadowed by complaints the series is going "woke." As GTA has always found a humourous way to comment on the real world, we're sure the team has a compelling story. Others are disappointed that we've seen barely anything of Jason. In fact, we don't even know he's called that.

Over on Reddit, one disgruntled gamer complained that Jason had been sidelined in favour of Lucia. Not everyone agreed as someone else added, "They did this to highlight that a woman was a playable character, which I’m 100% down for. They didn’t make her seem like she was forced in, it works."

Another added, "Well bro had 1.726 seconds of screen time so..," and a third said, "Sidelined? What? There’s been 1 video. God you all need to calm the f**k down." Someone else reminded us, "Keep in mind the first trailer for GTAV only included Michael. We’ll find out more."

GTA 6 fans think Jason has been downgraded

For the vocal minority that thinks Jason has been done dirty, we imagine they're the same ones who claim he's been given a downgrade. Following the big GTA 6 leak, we got hundreds of videos and screenshots showing off Jason and Lucia. Some have noted how this version of Lucia's male companion looks different to the one from the trailer.

Rockstar was quick to downplay the leaks and said that they came from a very early build of GTA 6, suggesting that a lot has changed. Some compared the situation of Red Dead Redemption 2's Arthur Morgan, who was also accused of being "nerfed" before his final release. Ironically, some think Jason looks like a young Arthur.

With Rockstar pencilling in a very broad 2025 GTA 6 release (assuming it doesn't get delayed), there's still a long way to go. The reveal trailer was tagged as "Trailer 1," and we hope the next could give us a closer look at Jason. We've already waited a decade for GTA 6, so by now, we thought you'd have learned a little patience.
