The latest Pokemon plushie is here, and this time, a game-accurate Gengar gives us a nightmarish reminder of the OG Pokemon games.

Ah Gengar, the villainous head of the Ghastly evolution line and one of the most iconic Pokemon there is. Thanks to the various games and beloved 90's anime, most of us will think of Gengar as a purple poltergeist that's usually sticking his tongue out. However, remember when Gengar has a strange bluish hue instead of his purple colouring?

The watercolour-style Pokedex entries are a nostalgic part of the franchise's early days. If you are of a certain age, you'll remember loading a cartridge into the Game Boy Color and seeing your 'Mon in a whole host of obscure colourways. Now, someone has recaptured those precious memories in plushie form.

What Is The Nightmarish Gengar Plushie?

Over on Twitter, @osakaplush is showing off their plushies that are inspired by Ken Sugimori's original watercolour artworks that graced the early days of the franchise. In particular, the nightmarish Gengar plushie is not like the ghost Pokemon we're used to seeing these days.

Despite its haunting look, one fan wrote, "Someone plz tell me who to give my money to." Another added, "How'd you make these? Where can I buy these? Want it, need it, gotta gotta have it!" A third concluded, "This is the version of shiny gengar that we all need vs the bland shiny version in current games."

Unfortunately, we have no idea whether these are actually for sale or are just one person's pet project. There are no links to any sort of shop, and at the time of writing, the Instagram page only has a handful of posts.

Are There More Of These Plushies?

It's also unclear whether the OP will keep making more of the Pokedex. Their socials also have an adorable Bulbasaur plushie, meaning they might've started at the very beginning. Still, jumping from #1 to #94 is quite the leap. At last count, there are 898 Pokemon, with a load more on the way thanks to Hisuin forms and new additions to Pokemon Legends: Arceus. Osakaplush could be busy for a while.

We don't know what it is about Gengar merchandise, but we seem to love it. As well as the recent opening of the Pokemon UK shop being dominated by Gengar hoodies, Japan had the weird and wonderful release of a giant Gengar bed you could put your head in. With Gengar's fan-favourite status, let's hope no one calls in the Ghostbusters on this seemingly illegitimate merch.
