It was a short (and not-so sweet) ride for Fall Guys: Ultimate Knockout's latest level. The newly introduced Jump Showdown has been temporarily pulled from the battle royale game after a major cheat was exposed.

It turns out some people were sailing through the final round simply by doing nothing. Hey, it's not a bad way to nab that giant crown.

While Fall Guys starts with 60 plucky players vying for a place at the top, the rounds quickly whittle them down until a final few put the crown in their sights. Jump Showdown was a late addition as a final round after it popped up in beta. Even if Jump Showdown isn't up there in terms of controller-throwing difficulty with Hex-A-Gone, it's still a quick fall from grace if you don't know what you're doing.

Posting on Reddit, lead designer Joe Walsh confirmed Jump Showdown has been temporarily disabled in-game. When one player asked if Jump Showdown was out of the final pools, Walsh responded, "Hey! Tweeting this out has slipped through the net but we've removed it while we fix the infinite hang issue".

As the above tweet shows, players were able to hang off the edge of the platform and watch their opponents get knocked into the abyss as the arms get faster and they just chill there

Although we don't know how many players made the most of the exploit, the video showing how it was done racked up an impressive 100,000 views. Walsh didn't reveal when Jump Showdown would be back, but given the fact its an actual flaw in the design and not just a hack, it could involve a pretty major overhaul of the entire level.

It's interesting that others have pointed out the ledge-hang exploit was actually show in the original Fall Guys trailer, meaning Mediatonic effectively told us how to do this months ago. Whoops, that's a bit of a blunder. Don't worry though, there are plenty of other mini-games to play while Jump Showdown is out of action.

At least the devs have made quick work of removing Jump Showdown until its fixed. Either way, there's no escaping the popularity of Fall Guys as the game has shifted well over 8 million copies. Part of the success has been down to the game's inclusion as part of August's PlayStation Plus pass. There's also been a boom in love thanks to an expanding wardrobe of costumes and hints of crossovers with some of the biggest franchises out there. Anyway, enough chatting, it's time to get back to playing Fall Guys.
