Ash Ketchum's final episode as the star of Pokemon has finally come to Netflix in the US.
As Ash has been a staple character in the series since its release, fans are celebrating his legacy and are looking forward to the future of the Pokemon series.
The final episodes of Pokemon are on Netflix US
The Pokemon trainer has been starring in the Pokemon anime since 1997, making the change in the series feel like the end of an era.
Many fans have been patiently waiting for the final episodes of Pokemon: Ultimate Journeys to come to streaming sites since it aired in Japan in January.
The 11-episode mini-series titled Pokemon: To Be A Pokemon Master, came to Netflix in the US on 8 September. The series follows Ash and Pikachu as they reunite with friends and Pokemon they have encountered along their journey. It is a cute send-off which ends Ash's legacy on a positive note.
Fans celebrate Ash's Pokemon Master legacy
Sarah Natochenny, who has voiced Ash for the last 17 years, took to Twitter to say goodbye to the franchise.
She said: "I am so unbelievably fortunate to have voiced Ash Ketchum for the last 17 years. We put so much love into Pokémon: To Be a Pokémon Master. I hope these episodes resonate with you all.
"I’m so excited for my next chapter as an actor and filmmaker. I intend to keep travelling, meeting you all, and am very happy to continue on in Pokémon Horizons in other roles.
"Thank you Pokemon, our crew at Iyuno, our director Lisa Ortiz, Hilary, Toshi, Andy, and everyone else at TPCI and our studios who have been supportive over the years. We did something truly magical. I hope we get to reunite one day."
However, Natochenny is not the only person saying goodbye. Ash's 26 years on television mean that many people have grown up watching him on TV, and the Pokemon Master leaving the show marks the end of an era.
One user said: "Damn, I'll never forget watching the show in the morning when it first started and having to play this game at the start of High School."
"Goodbye Ash... thanks for everything..." added another.
While Ash and Pikachu's journey may be over, there is more to come from the Pokemon franchise. Even though it is the end of an era, it is the start of something new, and I can't wait to see what comes next.
