What is going on with Wonder Woman? After its announcement at The Game Awards 2021, plenty of DC and gaming fans will be asking that question, and wondering how Monolith's next outing will be.

Batman is the most frequent DC character in video games, but now it's Wonder Woman's time to shine, and it makes for an exciting proposition to play as Diana of Themyscira herself. For information on the Wonder Woman gameplay, story, and more, read onward.

What do we know about Wonder Woman?

We know how long Wonder Woman has been in development. Monolith's last title, Middle-Earth: Shadow of War, was released back in 2017, and Wonder Woman started development shortly after. Considering the timeline, that means it's already had at least three years of development, and most AAA games don't tend to have dev cycles for longer than five years.

Wonder Woman Trailers

The one trailer so far was a cinematic trailer from The Game Awards 2021. It just panned around Wonder Woman's outfit mostly, showing close-ups of her bracers, belt, and chest piece before pulling back to reveal her in full, with her lasso of truth equipped and waving around. After this, it just displays the Wonder Woman logo.

All in all, it really doesn't tell us much apart from showing us that Diana has the typical Wonder Woman look we've come to expect. There is also a voice-over from an unknown character, talking about how Diana can become a hero, which could point to it being an origin story of sorts.

Wonder Woman Gameplay and Story

Again, the trailer we saw didn't illuminate much in terms of gameplay or the story, but a Warner Bros. press release did help to fill in some of the gaps. The game is set to be an original story, following Diana as she attempts to unite the Amazons and modern humans and rise into the role of a leader. This makes it seem like it will be somewhat of an origin story, or maybe a look into Diana as she's trying to find her feet as a new hero.

It's also confirmed to be an action-driven open-world game, with an inventive narrative. As a Monolith game, they would be remiss without including their famous Nemesis system that was developed in the Middle-Earth games, and thankfully, it is returning to let Wonder Woman forge connections with her enemies through the experience.

Wonder Woman Platforms

There are currently no announced platforms for Wonder Woman, but we definitely can expect it to release for PlayStation 5, Xbox Series X|S, and PC. It's also about that time in the console generation cycle when developers start making games exclusively for the new-gen consoles, so we wouldn't expect it to release for the last generation.
