If you want to know how to use and take off your gas mask in Warzone, we've got what you need to know, as with the move to the MW3 system, it's had some significant changes made to how it plays.

Out of all the new changes, one of the most welcome has undoubtedly been to the gas mask, one of the most hated features of the popular battle royale - but how does it work now?

How the gas mask works in Warzone

Unlike the previous iteration of Warzone, the gas mask is now used manually.

Now, if you find one on your travels around Urzikstan, you'll have the option to either equip or stow the mask, the former of which will place it within your inventory.

When equipping the gas mask, the same animation of putting it on will play, so be careful when you put it on. This is true regardless of whether you equip it from the ground or from your inventory, as the update doesn't remove the dreaded animation.

Luckily, it has given players the ability to control when it happens, as it won't happen automatically when you enter the gas - so be mindful that you need to do it yourself. Once the gas mask is in your backpack, you can open it up and equip the mask at any time.

To remove the gas mask in Warzone once you've put it on, you need to open your inventory, scroll to the gas mask in your equipped items, and then press the button or key indicated to stow it away.

  • Your equipped gas mask will always be the first item from the left on the list, just before your armour

Again, the animation will play when you take the mask off, but now you get to choose exactly when it happens. Hopefully, this will be the end of untimely encounters while moving in or out of the gas.
