While Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 is most notably known for its multiplayer, and even the newly introduced Warzone 2.0, there’s a fair amount of content to sink your teeth into. One of the modes that slide under the radar is the DMZ mode, which if you’ve not checked it out before, can be mind-boggling for first-time players.

When you’re dropped in, many new mechanics not seen in Call of Duty: Modern Warfare 2 are found, including exclusive contracts and missions. One specifically is tracking down safes, and if you’re unsure where to find them or new to the mode, here’s how to find safes in DMZ.

To begin tracking down safes, it’s similar to how it works in Warzone 2.0. You may stumble across some as you’re exploring, but to begin unlocking them, you will need to initiate the initial contract to begin hunting them down.

To find this, look on your map for a symbol that resembles a bomb inside of a mobile phone. It’s green, so should easily stick out from the crowd when scouring the map. Once you’ve marked one, head to the location to accept it, which will begin the Destroy Supplies Contract and allow you to begin finding safes in DMZ.

After accepting the contract, the safes will now be marked on your HUD for you to track down. Simply travel to each location and plant an explosive on the safe. You will have to wait a little while for it to detonate, so ensure you are fully equipped and ready to tackle any threats that may come your way.

The contracts usually offer you three safes to track down in DMZ, and while not all of them will give you what you want, they’re a great way to source cash. It’s also useful to know in case you come across an in-game mission or challenge that tasks you to find safes in the DMZ mode.

Overall, safes in DMZ are a great way of securing some great loot fairly quickly. The areas they are in are often surrounded by enemy AI or even real players, so take it slow, hunt them down, and grab some worthwhile DMZ rewards.
