Mudkip, Marshtomp, and Swampert have re-emerged in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet's Indigo Disk DLC, meaning you can now add the Hoenn-region starter and its evolutions to your collection!

One of the most popular (and powerful!) starter evolutions of all time is Swampert. The good news is that you can now add one to your team thanks to The Indigo Disk expansion, but first things first, you'll need to know where to find a Mudkip in the game's sprawling Terarium.

You can find Mudkip inside the Torchlit Labyrinth in the Coastal Biome, but first, you'll need to donate 3,000 BP to the Terarium Club so they can increase the kinds of Pokemon you can encounter in this area.

It's going to take quite a while to save up enough BP, but you can speed things up by completing Blueberry Quests with friends. Once you've got 3,000 BP, head to the League Club Room and interact with the computer to donate to the Coastal Biome expansion.

Mudkip can only be found inside the Torchlit Labyrinth, which is a cave to the southwestern side of the Coastal Biome. While some starter Pokemon like Popplio are quite common, I found Mudkip quite difficult to locate, which makes me think it has quite a low spawn rate.

How to evolve Mudkip into Marshtomp

Once you've caught a Mudkip, you'll want to evolve it into a Marshtomp. To do this, you simply need to train your Mudkip until it reaches Level 16 and it will evolve automatically.

If your Mudkip is already above this level, which it probably will be, don't worry - just raise it by one level and it will evolve right away.

How to evolve Marshtomp into Swampert

Marshtomop evolves into Swampert at the same time as every other starter Pokemon: Once it reaches Level 36. There are no special evolution items required for this process.

Similar to the last step, if you've got a Marshtomp that's already above Level 36, simply raise it one extra level through trainer battles, Exp. Candies, or Rare Candies, and it will evolve straight away.

That's everything you need to know about Mudkip and its evolutions! Make sure you visit our Pokemon Scarlet & Violet homepage for more guides including the Pokemon type chart and the latest Mystery Gift codes.
