A brand new game called Pokemon Legends: Z-A will be released in 2025, and it will feature the long-awaited return of Mega Evolutions!

Despite months of rumours and speculation that we'd be getting a Black & White remake, The Pokemon Company and Game Freak have thrown a curveball with something completely unexpected.

Everything we know about Pokemon Legends: Z-A so far

The new game - which serves as a follow-up to Pokemon Legends: Arceus - will see Trainers revisit the France-inspired Kalos region, which was the setting of Pokemon X & Y (2013) on the Nintendo 3DS.

While the first Legends game put the spotlight on Arceus, Pokemon Legends: Z-A appears to be giving the Legendary creature Zygarde a chance to shine. You can watch the trailer for the new game here or below.

The most interesting thing about the teaser trailer is that it confirms Mega Evolutions will return in this game. This feature hasn't been seen in the mainline game for years now, but it remains a fan-favourite gimmick.

The announcement came during a special Pokemon Presents stream to celebrate Pokemon Day, which takes place every year on February 27 to honour the release of the original Pokemon Red & Green games in Japan.

Other announcements included Raikou coming to Pokemon Sleep and a new TCG Pocket app that will put the focus on collecting cards with 3D animations and free packs to open each day.
