These special stones replace some of the evolution methods that Pokemon from the Unova region use to evolve, making it a bit easier in Pokemon GO. However, Unova Stones aren’t given to you in abundance, so you’ll probably need to utilize many sources to find enough of them. Pokemon GO Unova Stones: Eligible Pokemon
The following Pokemon require a Unova Stone to evolve:
- Lampent ➞ Chandelure
- Eelektrik ➞ Eelektross
- Minccino ➞ Cinccino
- Munna ➞ Musharna
- Pansage ➞ Simisage
- Pansear ➞ Simisear
- Panpour ➞ Simipour
It’s important to remember that these Pokemon still need the required candy to evolve. Using a Unova Stone is just half of the equation, not a replacement for candies.

Pokemon GO Unova Stones: How To Get Them
Click to enlargeThere are currently only a couple of ways to obtain Unova Stones. The first method is to battle the Team GO Rocket Leaders, Cliff, Arlo, and Sierra, and their leader, Giovanni. After defeating these characters, there’s a chance that they’ll drop a Unova Stone for you to collect.
Be sure to complete Field Research tasks as well, because the seven-day Research Breakthrough can come with a Unova Stone. It’s not guaranteed, but it is possible.
Finally, Unova Stones are, on occasion, rewards for completing Special Research quests. This isn’t a dependable way to find them, but if you’re having trouble using the more “regular’ methods, keep an eye out for new Special Research stories and be sure to finish them.
