The Pokemon Go Landorus counters are absolutely necessary if you want to take down the legendary, because it's one of the best Ground-type Pokemon in the game. This Legendary from the Unova region circles back into raids in Pokemon Go every so often, and comes in two forms: Therian and Incarnate. For the most part, they function the same, though they do have slight differences. For everything related to Pokemon Go Landorus, including how to beat it in raids with the best counters, how to use it in battle, and more, read on!

Pokemon GO Landorus Weaknesses

Both of Landorus’s forms are Ground/Flying-type. With that combination, they’re weak to Water-type moves and, notably, double-weak to Ice-type moves.

If you’re up against a Landorus in either a Raid or a GO Battle League battle, you’ll definitely want to opt for Ice-types, since they’ll do massive damage to the Legendary. Water-types are also a good choice, but when Ice is twice as effective, it’s the clear winner.

Avoid using Bug, Electric, Fighting, Ground, and Poison moves. Landorus resists all of these types, with an increased resistance to Ground-type attacks.

Since Landorus is incredibly weak to Ice-type moves, it’s wise to use these types in battle against it. Some of the best options are the following Pokemon with the corresponding moves:

  • Mega Abomasnow (Powder Snow | Ice-type Weather Ball)
  • Galarian Darmanitan (Ice Fang | Avalanche)
  • Mamoswine (Powder Snow | Avalanche)
  • Glaceon (Frost Breath | Avalanche)
  • Weavile (Ice Shard | Avalanche)
  • Beartic (Powder Snow | Ice Punch)
  • Vanilluxe (Frost Breath | Blizzard)
  • Jynx (Frost Breath | Avalanche)

These are just some suggestions. Really, any Ice-type Pokemon that’s halfway decent will be a good choice if you don’t have these counters. Of course, Shadow versions are typically better due to their Shadow damage boost. Opt for Shadow Pokemon if you have them!

Tip: In Raids, don’t forget that Mega Abomasnow will also give a power boost to other Ice-types on the field.

Pokemon GO Therian Landorus Vs. Incarnate Landorus

While these two forms are basically the same, they are dissimilar enough to perform slightly differently in battle.

Therian Form Landorus has a higher Attack stat than Incarnate, which, on paper, gives it a bit more use as a combatant. However, Therian Landorus doesn’t have access to Earth Power, which does set it back a bit.
Incarnate Form Landorus does have lower Attack, but can use Earth Power, which raises its utility overall. Whether it pushes it far enough ahead to surpass Therian Form is debatable, though.

Overall, Therian Form is better in most contexts. The difference between the two, though, is not enough to make Incarnate Form totally useless. Both are great Ground-type attackers, and you won’t go wrong with either.

In Pokemon GO, Landorus is arguably the best non-Shadow, non-Mega Ground-type there is, especially in its Therian Form. This makes it a great team member to invest in. Each of these forms has access to the best possible fast move, Mud Shot. However, as we mentioned further up in this guide, the two forms have different moves as their best charge attack.

In PvE, opt for Mud Shot and Earth Power for Incarnate Form, and give Mud Shot and Earthquake to Therian Form.

In PvP, the same moves will be great. However, you can really supercharge Landorus by choosing other charged moves. Giving Therian Form Superpower can really deal some damage to those pesky Steel-types. On the other hand, Stone Edge can be a great second move to unlock as it'll make work of the Pokemon that don't go down easily to Superpower.

As for Incarnate Form, Rock Slide can be a great option as a second charge move, since it'll help Landorus deal with its massive vulnerability to Ice-type Pokemon in a pinch. For the most part, Earth Power is still the best option because it receives the Same-Type Attack Bonus on top of being an already great move.

Even though Landorus is both a Ground-type and a Flying-type, it has no utility as a Flying-type Pokemon. It doesn’t learn any Flying-type moves, and if it did, it might still fall behind other Flying-type powerhouses like Moltres, Rayquaza, and the rest.
