Greavard, the Ghost Dog Pokemon, is debuting in Pokemon GO in the first part of Pokemon GO's 2023 Halloween event. Generation IX Pokemon are finally entering the ranks of Pokemon GO, and there's no Pokemon more appropriate for the holiday than Greavard. This primer details how to get Greavard, and Greavard's Evolution, Houndstone, in the AR mobile game from Niantic, plus if Greavard can be Shiny!

How to get Greavard in Pokemon GO

Greavard is new in Pokemon GO as of Pokemon GO Halloween 2023 Part I. You can add Greavard to your Pokedex starting Thursday, October 19, 2023, at 10 am local time.

The most reliable way to get Greavard in Pokemon GO is to complete the event-exclusive Timed Research. The Halloween 2023 Part I Timed Research is available from October 19, at 10am to October 31, at 8 pm local time. This Timed Research revolves around catching Ghost-type Pokemon and awards guaranteed encounters with Greavard.

Alternatively, you can encounter Greavard in Three-Star Raids during Halloween 2023 Part I. Trainers who manage to defeat Greavard in a raid will get an opportunity to capture the Ghost Dog Pokemon.

Can Greavard be Shiny?

Shiny Greavard does exist, but it's not yet available in Pokemon GO. Unfortunately, no matter how many times you encounter Greavard, it'll never be Shiny.

Greavard is a two-stage Pokemon, so it only has a single Evolution. You need 50 Greavard Candy to evolve Greavard into its skeletal form, Houndstone.

That's everything you need to know about the Ghost Dog Pokemon. The cast of Generation IX Pokemon in Pokemon GO continues to grow, with Greavard and Houndstone serving as the latest additions!
