This Modern Warfare 2 display name not allowed bug is a frustrating one. Modern Warfare 2 has only just launched, and as with most big games, there have been a couple of hitches. This display name bug has been an issue for many, but thankfully things seem to be getting better. Here is everything we know about the MW2 display name not allowed bug.

The display name bug is an issue that some players have encountered, where they have logged into the game for the first time only to be told that their display name is not allowed. This happens despite the fact that their display names do not break any of the rules for what a display name can be.

This is where the bug arises, as it seems that this error occurs for players at random. Even if you have used the same display name in the previous Call of Duty games, the bug can occur and prevent you from playing with that name.

Unfortunately, it seems there is not much that can be done. The number one thing we can recommend is that you should not change your name. You may be tempted to change it to something else, despite the fact that your display name is perfectly acceptable. According to players who tried this, it did not fix the issue and now they are without their original usernames. 

This is a bug, and like with most bugs the best thing to do is wait for a fix. Thankfully, it seems that fixes are on the way, and many players have already had this issue resolved. If you are one of the unlucky few still experiencing the issue, your best bet is to check for updates, and restart the game to insure they are installed. Hopefully before too long, you will be able to play the game with your chosen display name intact.
