The Usher to the Underworld hunt location for the Thanatos Notorious Mark in Final Fantasy 16 can be a tricky one to find, but the rewards for doing so are exponential once you do.
While the Hunt Board in the game will give you clues as to where each of the Notorious Marks are, you may need a bit of help finding the exact spot to find and defeat your quarry.

Usher to the Underworld: Where to find Thanatos
As you can see from the map location above, the Thanatos Hunt in Final Fantasy 16 is located in The Dhalmekia Republic. Your best fast-travel point will be the Gilded Path marker.
From there, head West through the Wastes before arriving at Titan’s Wake. It can be quite the trek, so it may be worth hopping on your Chocobo to get there faster.
The arena isn’t as large as others, so you need to be sure you’re aware of your surroundings when the fight begins.

How to hunt Thanatos in FF16
To defeat the Thanatos Notorious Mark in Final Fantasy 16, you’ll need to take care to time your precise dodges carefully to help bolster your damage and secure a window to attack.
Thanatos is a hulking being, with several ranged attacks that can devastate you from afar, as well as its powerful close-range moves. When it lunges or performs a ranged attack, that is the time to punish its stagger bar with Garuda’s Gouge Eikon Ability.

Final Fantasy 16 Usher to the Underworld Hunt rewards
As Thanatos is an A-tier Notorious Mark, the rewards for defeating it are quite substantial. For defeating the Agni in Final Fantasy 16, you’ll be rewarded with:
- 45 Renown
- 17,000 Gil
With that amount of Gil, you’ll even be able to afford a round for the hall, and the renown will undoubtedly net you a few bonuses once you return to the hideaway.
