If you're eager to get your hands on your very first mount in FFXIV, then we have all the information on how you can get your first Chocobo mount and start travelling quickly around Eorzea.

Once you've collected your first mount in FFXIV, you can then work your way up to collecting other mounts too, and have a healthy collection in the game to call your own. It may seem daunting at first, but we're here to help.

Here's how you can get your very own customisable Chocobo in Final Fantasy XIV.

In order to get your feathered friend, you’ll need to progress through the main story quests until around level 20+ when you’ve unlocked your Grand Company.

From there you’ll need to complete the quest My Little Chocobo, in which you’ll purchase a Chocobo license from your Grand Company. This unlocks the Chocobo mount for your character.

Once you have your Chocobo and are above level 30 you can unlock it as a combat companion. To do so, you’ll need to complete the quest My Feisty Little Chocobo which can be found in South Shroud. Once complete, you’ll need to use Gysahl Greens to summon your Chocobo for 30 minutes at a time.

Your Chocobo has its own levelling system. Levelling up your Chocobo is simple, as partaking in combat with your Chocobo will grant it experience. With those levels, you can specialise your Chocobo into a tank, healer or DPS via its skill tree. On top of that, unlocking your Chocobo as a companion allows you to raise it in a stable and customise its appearance.

You can raise a Chocobo by placing it into a Chocobo stable at your house/apartment. This is one of the ways to get experience for your Chocobo as well as letting you change its appearance and colour.
