Farthest Frontier: How To Make Gold
Gold is an extremely important resource in Farthest Frontier and is key for training troops for your army, and trading for other key resources to build up your town to the next level. While Gold isn't easy to earn, there are a few methods of obtaining it and as you progress into the game you should be able to build up quite a surplus.
The best method for obtaining Gold involves creating a mine. Once you have upgraded your Town Centre into the third tier, you will be able to see different resources highlighted on your map, with Gold being one of the resources that you should be able to find. Typically, Gold is located far away from your town too, so it can be risky sending teams there to set up mines. Before you begin the process of mining for Gold, you will need to build a Foundry in your town. This building allows you to convert coal unto energy and smelt Gold ore into Gold ingots, which is vital for actually making use of your Gold, as in its raw form it cannot be traded or used for building armies.
With a third tier Town Centre and a Foundry, you are now ready to send a team of miners to the Gold deposit and place down a Gold mine. They will automatically set up the mine when they are there and begin harvesting Gold to transfer to your Foundry, where every five pieces of ore will produce 100 Gold ingots. You can also set up a Gold Mine Centre between your town and the Gold mine to store more Gold.
The next best method involves setting up a Trading Centre in your town so traders can visit. Traders will offer up resources themselves, but you can also sell your own surplus for flat Gold. This method requires you to create a lot of a specific resource to sell, otherwise it can be a waste to build the Trading Centre to begin with.
The last way to consistently earn Gold is by racing your population, allowing you to passively gain Gold while you do other tasks. Different buildings like pubs and markets can be taxed in Farthest Frontier, but before you can begin to tax any random citizen, you will need to upgrade houses into homesteads. This requires you to build a large supply of food for your population, upgrade your Town Centre to the second tier, and have a water well nearby the houses.
Now you know how to make Gold in Farthest Frontier, and you should be able to start building up a big supply for trading and creating your standing army.
Make sure to check out Farthest Frontier system requirements, as you may need to lower your settings if the game is performing below standard.
