Having crossplay and cross-progression in Baldur's Gate 3 would be very helpful, allowing you to continue your adventure no matter what platform you or your friends are on.

Sometimes, you'll just want to sit back and relax as you talk to your companions in Baldur's Gate 3, and that is best done with a console while sitting on the sofa. Furthermore, there's nothing better than adventuring through the game with a friend, but with multiple platforms available this could prove to be an issue.

Thankfully we've got all of the information you'll need below, so make sure to continue reading to find out if Baldur's Gate 3 supports crossplay and cross-progression.

Unfortunately, Baldur's Gate 3 does not support crossplay right now, so you will have to play with your friends on the same platform if you wish to adventure together.

However, when talking to Eurogamer, Larian's director of publishing Michael Douse has stated that crossplay is 'in the roadmap', so it might arrive in the game eventually.

There is no date, and Larian knew that it would not be ready for the PS5 launch, but it should hopefully come in the near future. We will let you know if any new updates arise though, so check back again soon.

In excellent news, you will be delighted to find out that Baldur's Gate 3 does have cross-platform progression, meaning that you can continue your progress across PC and PS5 with cross saves.

You will need to purchase the game separately on both platforms though, as there is no cross-platform ownership in place for the game right now.

Here is exactly how to use cross saves in Baldur's Gate 3 across PS5 and PC right now:

  • Create a Larian account and log in using that on all platforms that you can use cross saves on
  • Boot up Baldur's Gate 3 on either device and open up the 'Settings' menu
  • Head to the 'Gameplay' tab and scroll down until you reach the 'Cross-Save' option
  • All your saves will thus be uploaded, and can now be accessed from the 'Load Game' menu

Additionally, cross saves in Baldur's Gate 3 do not require you to have PlayStation Plus or Xbox Live Gold, so you can play freely between platforms without having to pay extra for the privilege.

That wraps up everything you need to know about crossplay and cross-progression in Baldur's Gate 3, letting you know the latest details and showing you how to enable cross saves in the game.
