It is not strange to be wondering if Armored Core 6 is open world, as the exploration and mission structure is quite different to FromSoftware's most recent and popular titles.

After the success of Elden Ring - a massive open-world behemoth - it is unsurprising that people might expect FromSoftware to continue this trend with Armored Core 6. While this was FromSoft's first step into a 'true' open world, many of its previous games have had vast open environments so it wouldn't be surprising if we saw the new mech game take this form too, despite the series' traditions.

You needn't worry any longer though, as we've got the answers to whether Armored Core 6 is open world below, so make sure to continue reading to find out more about the exploration and mission structure in the game.

Armored Core 6 is not open world, and follows a strict, linear mission structure that has little in terms of exploration. However, FromSoftware has implemented a sense of 'openness' to many of the missions, with verticality playing a big part in how you move through each space.

While each level is a relatively small and contained area, there is a strong degree of freedom as to how you move through it, so it isn't like you're going through narrow corridors, always in one direction.

If you've never played an Armored Core game before, you can kind of think of it as analogous with Demon's Souls, where there are set areas that you head to that typically have a boss at the end of each one, instead of a world that flows into each other.

There are also secrets to be found off of the beaten path within each level, with Loghunt locations and hidden chests to be found that will give you an abundance of new weapons and world lore. There might also even be a Moonlight Blade to be found if you search hard enough too.

That wraps up everything you need to know about whether Armored Core 6 is an open world game though, so you should be prepped to jump straight into its many Sortie missions now.
