The Armored Core 6 Ice Worm fight closes out Chapter 3, and has some unusual mechanics. Armored Core 6 has a wide variety of bosses, while some are incredibly tough, others can be blindingly fast.

The Ice Worm is likely the largest boss in the game, but thankfully you needn't fight it alone. Here is our guide for the best build and how to beat the Armored Core 6 Ice Worm fight.

Strategy and tips to beat Ice Worm in Armored Core 6

The Ice Worm boss fight is a bit more of a gimmick than a challenge, but that does not mean it is at all easy. You will have several AI companions in this fight with you, but they likely will not last the full fight. Further, the fight is less about raw damage, and more about hitting precise shots at the right time.

Before the Ice Worm fight, you will complete a mission to acquire the VE-60SNA stun needle launcher for this very fight. You will need this weapon in order to stun the Ice Worm, which is your primary goal for most of the fight.

To stun the Ice Worm, you need to hit the front of it, the "face" where the three massive drills are. Do enough damage to stun it and you will take down its primary shield. This is what you need the stun needle launcher for, but this is also a very powerful weapon so we recommend using it regardless.

Once the primary shield is down, Rusty will fire a rail gun to fully stun the Ice Worm. This is where you must focus all your damage on it, primarily on the same front part we have been hitting so far. You get limited windows for dealing damage, so you need to make them count.

After downing the Ice Worm twice, it will power up and become more aggressive. Keep moving to avoid its attacks from underground, and stay in the air to avoid its ground-based attacks.

The best build for Ice Worm fight in Armored Core 6

Here are the parts that you'll want to equip if you're looking for the best mech for Ice Worm in Armored Core 6:

Unit

Part Type Part
R-ARM DF-GA-08 HU-BEN (Gatling Gun)
L-ARM DF-GA-08 HU-BEN (Gatling Gun)
R-BACK VE-60SNA (Stun Needle Launcher)
L-BACK VE-60SNA (Stun Needle Launcher)

Core

Part Type Part
HEAD HD-033M VERRILL
CORE DF-BD-08 TIAN QIANG
ARMS DF-AR-09 TIAN-LAO
LEGS DF-LG-08 TIAN QIANG

Frame

Part Type Part
BOOSTER IA-CO1B: GILLS
FCS FCS-G2/P05
GENERATOR VP-20D
EXPANSION Terminal Armour

As mentioned, the stun needle launcher is a requirement for this mission so you will need to bring one. As it is so powerful, we recommend bringing two if you can afford a second one and even recommend it for other powerful bosses like the Ibis.

Dual Gatling guns are a great way to hose enemies with massive amounts of damage and go nicely with the burst damage of the needle launchers. To carry all this, we recommend a heavy build. This works here especially because the Ice Worm is huge, it isn't fast so you do not need a mobility build to keep up with it.

A tanky build like this is more than capable of staying ahead of the Ice Worm's attacks, so take advantage of this tough mech with big guns to absolutely destroy the Ice Worm.
