Disbanding units is a feature not often brought up in Age of Wonders 4 for PC, but can be crucial for managing your resources in the game, so here is everything you need to know about the option in Age of Wonders 4.

While it may be something of a rarity, disbanding your units can end up being quite helpful in a pinch, so I've broken down why it might be helpful to do so.

How do you disband units?

To disband a unityou need to do the following:

  • Select an individual unit.
  • Right-click on them, or press the Y/Triangle button if you are playing on a console (or with a controller).
  • When the unit stat screen pops up, press the small red button in the top right corner.

Once the button is pressed, the unit will be disbanded and disappear from your army. Be careful as this is permanent, and you do not get any resources back for disbanding your units.

Why disband units?

Disbanding your units might seem antithetical to your goals, but there are reasons to do it. A prime reason for this is when a unit is no longer worth the resources required to keep it active. This may be because you have better units that make it redundant, or because you need more space in your ranks for better units.

The point is to keep an eye on your resources. If you feel you are headed towards a situation where you are spending more than you can afford, disbanding units can be a good way to cut costs.
