Since first launching the anthology of Far Cry titles back in 2004, we've never gone more than four years without a new instalment to dig our teeth into.

The last of the Far Cry games was delivered from Ubisoft in 2021, and after a somewhat underwhelming release for a franchise as esteemed as this, we've been waiting with bated breath to see how the publishers would respond.

Now though, it looks like that four-year gap is the aim again, as new job listings are stoking the fire of earlier leaks that Far Cry 7 could be coming next year.

Early last year, Far Cry 7 murmurs began to surface, with leaks indicating that a multiplayer spin-off will also join the seventh title. Further leaks from Insider Gaming claimed that an Alaskan setting will be featured in the unannounced title, showing how far down the development cycle it is, while others on 4Chan also claimed that the series will be controversially taking us to a North Korean island.

But, nothing concrete has come from Ubisoft, until now.

As first reported by Portuguese outlet GeekInOut, eight new jobs have been made available at Ubisoft's Canadian studios (Toronto, Montreal, Quebec, and Sherbrooke), all of which reference a "Far Cry Project" in the description.

From Game Design to Level Design, and Character Artists to Animation Directors, the roles appear to describe a game that is well underway and needs steering towards completion.

Far Cry 7 could feature in Ubisoft's upcoming premiere

With a new Far Cry "Project" in the works, presumably the next full game in the series, Ubisoft could finally be set to reveal the title to devoted fans, as the publishers will be holding an exclusive premiere during Summer Games Fest week, intended to showcase what's going on in their portfolio.

While many fans will be hoping for concrete XDefiant details, Splinter Cell updates, and more, Ubisoft Forward 2024 would work as the perfect time for Far Cry 7 to be announced.

Older leaks pencilled in Far Cry 7 for 2025, and looping back to the typical four-year gap between titles, the expectation is ramping up for Ubisoft to get the franchise back to winning ways next year.
