It happens every year, and it never gets old. The Christmas noobs finally arrived in Call of Duty Modern Warfare 2, and they're on a new level this year with veteran players absolutely destroying them in matches.
What Are Christmas Noobs?
In case you weren't aware, Christmas noobs are brand new players to the game who have likely picked up the game as a present around the holiday period. Of course, this means they're super low-level and most likely utterly unfamiliar with the game.
With access to only low-level weapons and barely any map knowledge, these newbies are ripe for the picking for those of us that have stuck with the game since day one.
While it's undoubtedly a frustrating time for those who have just picked up Modern Warfare 2 for Christmas, it's an especially exciting time for regular players. It's essentially akin to a double XP weekend, as most of your opponents appear to have similar gameplay tactics to AI bots. However, it seems that the skill level of the 2022 Christmas noobs this year is taking the biscuit.

Clips are surfacing on Twitter of just how clueless this year's wave of new players seems to be. One user shared the following clip of them earning upwards of 80 kills on the newly added Shipment map. As you can see, they're running rings around these new players who wander the map fairly aimlessly.
Other users are sharing some seriously impressive scoreboard screenshots. One user has managed to rack up an incredible 338 kills in a round of Hardpoint on Shipment. As expected, they barely spent any time actually playing the objective (shame on them), but it's still an impressive feat to conquer.
Frustratingly, the epic highs of mowing down Christmas noobs are likely to be short-lived. Thanks to the SBMM implementation in Modern Warfare 2, the matchmaking system quickly cottons on to when players are destroying the opposition. As such, it's likely that the Christmas noobs will end up getting placed in matches amongst themselves after a few days.
Still, it's definitely worth jumping into a match of Modern Warfare 2 over the holidays if you want a fair chance at levelling up some of your weapons quickly. If the Combat Knife is something you're struggling to rank up, now is almost certainly the time to try it.
