The season truly is jolly for Call of Duty veterans, who will be gifted an early present as the twelve days of Christmas begins to count down.

Taking the place of the "Eleven Pipers Piping," Call of Duty developers are opting to bring back a beloved map as old as the celebration itself - or at least feels like it.

Shipment's return to the franchise has been widely documented, and with Modern Warfare 2's mid-season update, the map is thrust in front of players for the sixth time. This time there are no silly additions, and instead, the OG Shipment layout is back with some much-loved nerfs.

MW2 Shipment To Remove Crate-Climbing From Vanguard

The last iteration of Shipment that we saw came in 2021's Call of Duty: Vanguard, where a new addition to the layout forced the map to be much wider than what we were used to.

With crates blocking off both vertical lanes, players could mantle the boxes and open up a new line of sight in Shipment. This was a move which didn't quite live up to the hype. However, this is now being scrapped in favour of the old design in the series gone by.

Straight from the mouth of Call of Duty itself, the upcoming MW2 Shipment variant lands without crate-climbing, meaning all warfare will be on the ground, rather than having to pluck people down from head-glitches atop crates.

Fans Left Happy At Shipment Crate-Climbing Removal

Taking to social media platforms, fans have expressed how they love the reverted change, and that Vanguard's Shipment didn't truly harness what the map is about.

"Without a doubt, the best thing about this Shipment is this right here. No more Parkour/Campers on containers," one fan said on Reddit. Not everyone was convinced though, as one critic added, "I mean IW created the worst version of shipment once. I fully believe they can make it worse in this game somehow. They managed with the rest."

But it can never be too plain sailing with developers, as they hinted that Drill Charges are going to be able to pass through containers, which will add another randomised lethal equipment element to the map which is already a minefield.

Infinity Ward has promised that this variation of Shipment will have "more cover", but that's not quite why we like Shipment is it? Let the mayhem begin!
