The days of Mil-Sim Call of Duty skins are long gone, with the designers opting for more fun and light-hearted creations that don't always go down well with the community.

From the Whisker Tango Cat Operator bundle to the Rat Pack cosmetic that transforms players into a giant rodent, it's safe to say there are no design limits over at Activision anymore.

As a result, a lot of players assumed nothing could surprise them, but the devs have somehow managed it with a new Monkey skin in Season 5 Reloaded.

Slamming it as "dumb" & "trash," Mil-Sim fans are growing more and more frustrated with the animal skins, but not everyone hates the new primate.

MW2 players slam Monkey Operator as "weirdest" skin yet

Taking to the ModernWarfareII subreddit, user swamppacks decided to showcase an image of the new Monkey skin coming in Season 5 Reloaded, and simply asked the community "What is this?."

It didn't take long for countless players to reply, expressing their distaste for the Monkey Operator and the direction of skins as a whole in MW2.

"The types of extremely stupid skins this game sells that people gobble up," said one user, with another arguing CoD "Should have left the silly skins to Fortnite."

Others kept it short and sweet, slamming the Monkey skin as "dumb" and "trash," making it clear that they've given up hope of Call of Duty ever returning to its Mil-Sim roots.

Other MW2 fans love Monkey skin & will be "buying instantly"

Not everyone hates the Monkey Operator though, with some fans showing a lot of support and claiming that they'll be buying the "hilarious" skin "instantly."

A portion of the community has even begun encouraging Activision to finish the whole animal kingdom, and have made sure to remind them not to forget reptiles.

"We have Rats, Cats, Bunnies and a Wolf, I'm more mad that we don't have a Snake yet, Reptiles need love too."

While the backlash from Mil-Sim fans continues, it does look like some of the CoD community is finally warming up to the animal takeover. Either way, Activision clearly has no intention of slowing down these wacky skin releases, and the Monkey Operator is just the latest addition.
