Horizon Forbidden West might not have made the splash that PlayStation wanted for its franchise, but that doesn’t mean that they’re giving up on them just yet.

The series has suffered a couple of pretty brutal release windows, competing with industry giants at each turn, but Aloy’s not one to be kept down, becoming PlayStation’s go-to modern mascot through the sheer willpower of Sony.

And it looks like the franchise hasn’t considered for a second that it could slow down.

It looks like Aloy isn’t throwing in the towel just yet, as Guerilla Games' studio director Jan-Bart van Beek has revealed that there's plenty more in store for the Horizon series.

Van Beek suggested that the studio was working on plenty, stating that a whopping 16 plans are all on the go and that the series is "going to be continuing for a very long while."

That's a lot of stories to tell across the world of Horizon, but to be perfectly honest, there’s a lot to explore here whether or not Aloy herself is attached.

Horizon's next title will be multiplayer

If you weren’t entirely tuned in to the future of the Horizon series, it’s definitely worth noting that the next game will be a departure from the expected from Guerilla Games, as they’re gearing up to go multiplayer.

Van Beek described the game as "a massive shift for the studio, almost on the same level as doing the first Horizon," and added that "building this all out to a multiplayer experience is a whole new challenge for the studio."

There's clearly plenty to look forward to, especially if Horizon’s next step is such a bold, new one. We’ll take anything providing we can explore the maddening beauty of Horizon again, to be honest.
