The fight goes on, and just as expected, Helldivers are all in on it. The turnaround for action in Helldivers 2 is astonishingly quick, as evidenced by the fact that just after pushing back Automaton forces, players have been met with a new wave of robot enemies to take care of.

While we're certainly willing to take the bots back to the chop shop, we're going to need something fresh soon. That's where the Illuminate comes in. The potential baddies responsible for the mysterious blue beams are expected to touch down soon, but after that, fans are wondering what comes next.

Helldivers fans suggest a parasitic enemy type

Helldivers have put it to Arrowhead Game Studios that a new type of enemy could efficiently make its way into the battle, and frankly, it's a pretty brilliant idea.

User MassiveProduce4224 has taken to the Helldivers subreddit to reveal the concept of a brand-new parasitic foe. This enemy type would practically unleash biological weapons on the Helldivers themselves.

"It’d be an interesting mechanic to have enemy types that resurrect themselves or who’s [sic] hulks are walking spawns for smaller horde types," the user says. "They’d have the ability to drop traps in the form of enemy variations that grab you or explode when near."

It's a pretty solid plan as a type of attack we haven't seen yet, leaving Helldivers in danger of being infected themselves. Plus, parasites lend themselves quite nicely to political messaging, which we all (hopefully) know that Arrowhead has been having fun with in the co-op shooter.

Fans offer their own Helldivers 2 enemy hopes

Others have complimented the concept and shared their own ideas. Someone offered a strong way to approach the villains of Helldivers 2, saying, "Just have to look at the 40k universe. We have Orcs (lots of shootie shootie and rockets bots) we have Tyranids (terminids) we have Eldar incoming (Illuminati)."

Another Warhammer fan added, "I kind of want another alien race but one that is not high technology. Like the Kroot from Warhammer: primal hunters that have a code of honour like predators. Maybe they use various beasts they have captured and trained as part of their army."

They're all great concepts that draw from other sci-fi and fantasy worlds - and maybe that's exactly where the Arrowhead team needs to look for inspiration. For now, though, we'll be fine eradicating the Automaton scourge and quaking in our boots at the imminent attack of the Illuminate.
