Halo Infinite Battle Royale 'Leaked' By Insider
Halo Infinite has been a big deal for Halo fans, but for some time, fans have been waiting for one addition over any other.
Though players are still waiting for couch co-op in the game's campaign mode, and are still loving the multiplayer mode which has served as a return to form for the franchise, there's of course one missing link (no not that one) that shooters simply aren't allowed to prosper without.
Rumours about a Halo battle royale mode have circled for as long as we've known about Halo Infinite, and fans have convinced themselves that it's on the way - and some leaks have begun to suggest that fans were right to get excited ahead of time.
Halo Dataminers Find 'Proof' Of Battle Royale
It looks like there's more evidence of the existence of the long-awaited Halo battle royale mode coming to Halo Infinite. The leak has been revealed by HaloHub, a Twitter account notorious for revealing hidden details about the game.
"It looks like a successor to Halo 5's Warzone may be in the works with battle royale like characteristics," reads their tweet. "We received these screenshots recently and know others have too."
The screenshot shows a screen of settings with a setting for the amount of "starting deployment keys," indicating that players only have a certain sum of opportunities to rejoin the battle after death. It also shows off a "containment zone," indicating a ring that closes in on players, much like the feature that facilitates many battle royale games.
But, there's an interesting detail to note.
Halo's Battle Royale May Not Be Made By 343 Industries
According to Windows Central, developers Certain Affinity are working with Halo developers 343 Industries on a brand new game mode for Halo Infinite, codenamed "Tatanka". The mode was reported to be "a few months out" back in January, so who knows when the game mode could see the light of day - but if this mode ends up being the battle royale mode, then maybe we've got even longer to wait.
Even though it could be a long way off, the hints that Halo could be getting its own battle royale mode are exciting in themselves. Brace yourselves, Spartans - because the prospect of a fancy new mode becomes more and more likely every day.
