A giant of the gaming world is waking from his slumber later this year, as Sony Santa Monica's God of War: Ragnarok brings Kratos back into our lives in a big way. It's been four years since the franchise reboot swapped Ancient Greece for the Nine Realms, and as we prepare to round off our Norse chapter before it barely began, all bets are off on what will happen in God of War: Ragnarok

While God of War's early days are remembered for Zeus being the big bad of the piece, there's a whole host of Norse deities giving us trouble this time around. There was a stinger tease of Thor in 2018's God of War, and alongside the God of Thunder, we're expecting Odin to step out of the shadows in Ragnarok. Now, eagle-eyed fans think they've spotted Thor's daddy dearest hiding in plain sight.

Where Is Odin In The God Of War Ragnarok Trailer?

In the latest Ragnarok story trailer, we get to find out a bit more about what Atreus and Kratos have been up to, with this insight highlighting the strained relationship between the pair. We get to see an epic battle between Kratos and Thor, but apart from some foreboding narratives, there's no sign of Odin... or is there?

If you jump to the 40-second mark, there's a mysterious voice that asks, "You don't really want war, do you Kratos? All that blood on your hands... on your son's hands." Atreus opens the door to a balding stranger, and while this may not be the typically buff and warrior-esque Odin we come to expect from Anthony Hopkins' portrayal in the Marvel Cinematic Universe, remember he's an old and war-torn being.

We still haven't seen a full look at Odin however, recent artwork supposedly revealed a haggard version of the character. Remember that just like Loki, Odin is a master of disguise. Some think the elderly stranger that Atreus greets at the door is just a ruse - meaning Odin is scheming something big. If we've learned anything from God of War, it's that you shouldn't trust anyone.

Who Voices Odin In God Of War Ragnarok?

You might've heard some familiar vocals, but if you can't place Odin's voice, don't worry, we've got you covered. Odin's voice actor is none other than Richard Schiff. As well as roles in the likes of The Lost World: Jurassic Park and more recently The Good Doctor, Schiff is best-known for playing Toby Ziegler in all seven seasons of The West Wing

It's clear that Odin is going to be a typically complex addition to God of War Ragnarok, and while he seems to be trying to guide Kratos in the trailer, we guess he has his own nefarious reasons. We've already covered how we doubt Thor will be the big bad. Just like Kratos vs. Zeus was the big battle at the end of God of War III, get ready for Kratos and Odin to duke it out. Now we know it's Schiff behind that disembodied voice, you'll never hear Odin the same.
