Just when you think you've seen all there is to see in Minecraft, someone has gone and added DOOM to that blocky world.

If playing Minecraft in Minecraft wasn't weird enough, imagine booting up id Software's classic game on an in-game version of Windows 95.

As one of THE defining video games, DOOM has a legacy that is still following it around some 27 years later. Now, you can suit up as Doomguy and take on Pinky Demons, Spider Masterminds, and Pain Elementals. According to The Verge, Redditor u/DrunkMate ran DOOM in Minecraft using VirtualBox.

The "free and open-source virtual machine software" runs systems like Windows 95. It was a simple case of adding a PC block and then importing operating systems from ISO files. That being said, it's harder that it looks because you have to literally build the PC in Minecraft.

Either way, once all the hard work is done, the DOOM experience plays just like it did back in the day and even has Doomguy's squashed little face on the screen.

With the ability to play Minecraft in Minecraft, one person asked if you can play DOOM in Minecraft in Minecraft? We're through the looking glass here people.

We've all seen Windows 95 being previously run on an Xbox One and even an Apple Watch, but seeing it inside Minecraft is something new. Sure, Windows 95 in Minecraft might look a little primitive, but you can also complete tasks on MS Paint and Notepad. It's all the retro nostalgia anyone could wish for.

Given the popularity of putting DOOM on literally anything that has a screen, it's no surprise it has quickly found a new home in Minecraft. All there is left to ask is, now that you can officially play DOOM in Minecraft, how much longer until someone boots up Sim City 2000
