In Helldivers 2, there are countless enemies whose sole purpose is to destroy you by any means necessary, which means every skirmish requires tactics.

Very few are tougher than the powerful and ironclad Heavy Devastators, a foe that even has the potential to shoot through terrain (even if it's not an intended mechanic).

These intimidating opponents spray you with devastating gunfire, and if you're not behind cover, it can result in an instant death. Luckily, a Helldivers 2 fan has shared a brilliant "strafe" technique that allows you to dodge the majority of their shots.

Helldivers 2 "strafe" tactic counters Heavy Devastators

Taking to the Helldivers subreddit, user AcanthaceaeSharp7809 shared a useful "strafe" technique for evading Heavy Devastator gunfire.

When running in the same direction, the projectiles from the robot behemoth will lock onto you and ravage your health bar. However, if you instead strafe from side to side, as showcased in the clip, the bullets will fly past you.

This is an incredible strategy if you're caught in an open position with no cover in sight. Strafing will give you the time to get your bearings and devise a plan to take the foe down.

While the odd bullet will still hit you using this movement technique, it's night and day compared to the typical encounter that usually results in a Shield Devastator landing every single shot on target.

Prone technique also helps avoid headshots in Helldivers 2

A lot of Helldivers love to go prone while taking on Shield Devastators in an attempt to dodge gunfire. This works, but according to a player in the thread, diving on your belly has the chance to give the enemies an instant headshot.

The Shield Devastor's damage is so high that this will insta-kill you, so make sure to "go prone on your back, not belly," as it will make it "harder" for them to land any critical shots.

Hopefully, these tricks make your next encounter with the robots a little easier and aid in spreading more democracy across the galaxy.
