Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom gives players a huge amount of creative freedom when it comes to solving puzzles with Link's new abilities.

The broken rail is one of the first tricky puzzles in the game, but there are a couple of ways around it. We'll show you all the different ways to cross the rail in our rundown below.

How to get a minecart across the broken rail

Believe it or not, it is possible to get across the broken rail with a minecart. It uses a bit of simple physics and a fair amount of building. The first thing you'll need to do is gather a handful of minecarts, you want at least three.

Attach them end on end and put them on the rail. Now, attach at least three fans to your little mine cart train. When it comes to attaching the fans, you can attach them all at the back but you might have a smoother ride if you attach them along the train.

The idea here is that if the train is long enough, the front will be able to cross the gap in the rail before the back reaches it. Provided the front car crosses before the back car gets to the gap, you should make it. Having fans near the front will help keep the train moving once the front gets across.

Other ways across the broken rail

Like all Tears of the Kingdom puzzles, there are more ways for one to solve this. If you look around the area near the bottom of the rail, you should find a large hook. At this point, you will have already used hooks for riding rails going down, but now you can use one to ride it up.

First, we need to construct our vehicle. A simple and effective way to make this journey is to attach the hook to a mine cart, placed in the centre like the sail of a boat. Then, attach a fan to the rear of the cart. Now you simply need to hook your contraption onto the unbroken rail, board it, and then smack it to send it up the rail.

Thankfully there is a gap under the rail at the top that allows you to do this without just ploughing into the wall below. Of course, this is just one of several ways you can achieve this, minimalists among you might just attach the fan to the hook and cling on for dear life. The point is to get creative with it, there is no single right answer.
