How to unfuse items in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom
Unfusing items is necessary to make the most of nearby weapons and attachments. Here's how to unfuse items in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom.
Figuring out how to unfuse items in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom is one of the best things to learn early on in the game, especially when you have limited item capacity.
It's worth remembering that unfusing a weapon will destroy whatever object you have fused it with. Luckily, there is a second way to unfuse the weapon where no object has to be damaged in the process. Read our rundown below to learn more.
The easy way to unfuse items
The quickest and easiest way to unfuse items is to destroy the fused material. Here is what you need to do:
- Press the + button to get to the items menu.
- Then press L or R to scroll over to the "Weapons" section.
- Select the fused weapon or tool you want to separate.
- Next, select "Destroyed fused material."
And that's it! You'll now have the original unfused item back, and the thing you combined it with is gone.
It's a pain to get rid of the combined item with this route, but it is the most accessible, especially at the beginning of Link's journey. That being said, there is a way to get the fused item to separate without losing any resources.
Unfusing items without damaging them
To unfuse items without losing any of your resources, head to Tarrey Town, which is located northeast of the Central Hyrule area. It will take you quite a while to get to Tarrey Town on foot, so we'd suggest you prioritize finding a horse to help you get there.
Now, you want to find a kid Goron Pelison with a big yellow helmet. He's next to the market store. He will ask if you want to break down your items or not. Once you select "Break it down," the handy Pelison will lay the two separated items on a mat nearby, but it will come at the cost of 20 Rupees.
