It does come with a small cost, and you do need to reach a certain checkpoint within the game in order to unlock the respec option, but it is well worth having as an option in the game if you ever want to shift things around. After all, surely Hyrule's greatest swordsman should be able to shift around their priorities a little?

So, check out the rest of this guide below to learn more about buying back your Hearts and Stamina essence in Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, alongside the statue's location of where you can do it.

How do you respec Hearts and Stamina?

In order to respec your Hearts & Stamina in TOTK, you will need to find the Horned Statue, which will let you sell and buy back Heart or Stamina essence for a small cost. It is found within a hidden section underneath Lookout Landing, but you will need to complete a certain part of the main story before this becomes active.

  • After completing any of the main temples in The Legend of Zelda: Tears of the Kingdom, head into the lower barracks of Lookout Landing through the hole in the middle, and you should be able to accept a quest from Jerrin who is found sweeping the area.
  • They will complain about a voice coming from behind a set of rocks, starting the Who Goes There side quest. Break through the rocks with a rock-fused weapon, and continue through the path until you reach the voice coming from the Horned Statue.
  • When you first speak to the Horned Statue they will take away one of your Hearts, and you will be able to reallocate it for free.

From this point, however, the Horned Statue will buy your Heart or Stamina essence for 100 rupees, and then you'll be able to buy back the essence and respec it to either Hearts or Stamina for 120 rupees - essentially costing 20 rupees per respec.

If you return to Jerrin you will be able to complete the quest and get 20 rupees in return, which is perfect if you want to do another quick respec.

Where is the Horned Statue?

The Horned Statue is found within the northern underground section of Lookout Landing within the Central Hyrule region. It is specifically at the map coordinates of -0236, 0157, 0004, and is fairly easy to reach once you complete the Who Goes There quest.

This statue will allow you to respec as many times as you can afford, which is very helpful if you need a certain number of Hearts to clear a skill check, or you want to climb a tall mountain.

If you have played Breath of the Wild, you might remember that the Horned Statue was found outside of Hateno Village. However, in Tears of the Kingdom it can only be found in its Lookout Landing location, so you won't have to worry about looking for any other spots.
