Many players have been wondering who Venom is in Marvel's Spider-Man 2 for years now, ever since the symbiote villain was first announced for the game back in a 2021 PlayStation Showcase. Plus, as you don't get introduced to the character right away as you start the game, you'll continue to wonder about Venom's identity for quite a chunk of your playthrough as well.

So, for those who want to skip ahead and know right away, let's get into answering who Venom is in Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

SPOILER WARNING: This guide contains major spoilers for the events of Marvel's Spider-Man 2.

Unsurprisingly for some, Harry Osbourne is Venom in Marvel's Spider-Man 2. Although this is a new direction for both the characters of Harry and Venom outside of the Ultimate Spider-Man cartoon, this was still the most popular prediction given the post-credits scene of the original Marvel's Spider-Man in 2018, which showed Harry submerged in the tank with the symbiote to help cure his disease.

However, for some Spider-Man 2 fans currently playing through the game, who still may have thought Eddie Brock would have appeared and eventually become the villain like in the films and other media, Harry still being Venom is still an unexpected turn of events.

Well before he becomes Venom, Harry is already merged with the symbiote at the start of Marvel's Spider-Man 2 as the cure for his illness given to him by Dr. Connors and his father, Norman Osbourne - also having super strength and other abilities as a side effect. However, during the main story mission, "Good Men", Peter is fatally wounded by Kraven, and the symbiote switches to his body from Harry's in order to save his life.

After spending a large portion of the game merged with Peter, granting him extra incredible abilities but also warping his mind, Miles is able to help him get separated from the symbiote and contains it. The original Spider-Man then heads off to Oscorp to destroy it with the help of Dr. Connors.

Then, the story mission called "Don't Be Scared" starts and things take a turn. Harry, whose illness has returned without the symbiote to cure him, confronts Peter and becomes angry when he learns of his intentions to destroy it. Whilst yelling, Harry accidentally strikes the symbiote's container with its cane.

As soon as the symbiote breaks free, it merges with Harry once again. This time, though, the symbiote's time merged with Spider-Man and Harry's more-negative emotions transforms its host into a warped muscular version of his best friend's superhero persona, before fighting his way out of Oscorp and rampaging throughout the city.

As the story proceeds during the mission "This Isn't You", Harry fully adopts the mantle of 'Venom'.
