The next major expansion for Victoria 3 is on the horizon, so you may want to learn what you can expect to see in the Sphere of Influence DLC, and what changes it's expected to make to the game

Paradox grand strategy games always evolve over time, becoming more complex beasts to sink your free time into. Sphere of Influence is the biggest expansion for Victoria 3 yet, involving a number of new systems related to building your power and forming a modern nation of your own design.

What is the Sphere of Influence release date?

The Sphere of Influence expansion is set to launch on May 6, 2024, meaning players have roughly two months to wait as of writing this.

You can purchase the expansion on its own for £24.99/$30, or as part of the expansion pass, which lets you grab the smaller DLCs that come out since release as well.

New features in Sphere of Influence explained

Sphere of Influence is a major expansion for Victoria 3, and so there's lots of new stuff to play with and experience during a game.

It's designed around the idea of fast-moving diplomacy and international relations in the early 20th century, while giving you more tools to consolidate your power and influence. Here's a rundown of everything in the expansion:

Power Blocs

Become a powerful nation and create a Power Bloc, letting you dominate other nations with diplomacy to pursue economic or ideological goals. Decide what values your bloc stands for and use the power to give member nations special bonuses.

Foreign Investment

Gain the ability to invest in economies across the world to boost your bank account. On the flip side, weaponise Nationalisation to seize foreign assets and keep the wealth within your own borders.

The Great Game

Based on the real rivalry between Britain and Russia over power in Central Asia, The Great Game adds new events and journal entries to experience for the mighty nations. You can also choose a smaller country and join the struggle for regional independence.

Interest Group Lobbies

Interest Groups have expanded with Lobbies, where citizens can pursue their own foreign policy goals and influence the Lobbies of other countries for change.

New Subject Interactions

Expanded systems relating to Subjects, letting you hold them in check, adjust their tax, or even let them control their own markets.

Power Bloc Monuments

Build specific monuments relating to the different spheres of influence at play in the world.

Added Historical Flavour

With the addition of the Great Game and the other content in this expansion, you can discover new historical characters, clothes, companies, and events - all relevant to the region they're in.
