The upcoming Star Wars: Squadrons game is much-anticipated, not only as a new game for Star Wars fans to sink their teeth into but also as a potential new esport.

The game was initially revealed on June 15, 2020, with further gameplay trailers and teasers slowly put out over the summer.

The EA title is primarily a dog-fighting based battle game, but does also include a single-player campaign. The game takes place after the events of Return of the Jedi.

When does Star Wars: Squadrons come out?

Star Wars: Squadrons is set for release on October 2, 2020. The game will be purchasable and playable on PlayStation 4, Xbox One, and PC.

What is Star Wars: Squadrons?

The gist of the game is two teams battle it out across the space frontier, to defeat their opponents in air-based combat. Players will pilot a ship from either the Galactic Empire or New Republic Navy. The ships need to balance power between weaponry, shields, and engines. Galactic Empire ships do not have shields.

Multiplayer - Fleet Battles

The goal of Fleet Battles is to destroy the enemy teams Capital Ships, with the victor being the team who destroys the Enemy Flagship.

Single-Player - Story

Gameplay alternates between two customisable playable pilots, Rao Highmoon from New Republic's Vanguard Squadron and Case Kassandora from the Empire's Titan Squadron.
