Everyone loves Greninja, but before you can get this powerful Kalos-region Pokemon, you'll need to catch yourself a Froakie in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet's Indigo Disk DLC.

With starter Pokemon from every generation making a comeback in The Indigo Disk expansion, Trainers around the world will no doubt be clamouring to get a Greninja. To help you on your way, here's everything you need to know to find a Froakie and evolve it.

Where to find Froakie in Pokemon Scarlet & Violet

Froakie is a rare spawn in the Coastal Biome area of the Terarium, but before you can find it, you'll need to donate 3,000 BP to the Terarium Club so they can increase the kinds of Pokemon that will appear in the Coastal Biome.

This is a prerequisite for finding all of the returning starter Pokemon in The Indigo Disk, and it will probably take you quite a while to save up enough BP! To speed up the process, try completing Battle Quests with friends to get some extra points.

You can donate BP to the Terarium Club at the computer in the League Club Room. Once you've done this, head to the Coastal Biome and search around the northern side of this area until you find a Froakie. It's a small creature, so it's quite easy to miss!

Compared to the other returning starters like Popplio, it seems as though Froakie has a very low spawn rate. Even when the minimap would indicate that there was a Froakie nearby, it wouldn't always appear. But keep searching and eventually, you'll find one!

How to evolve Froakie into Frogadier

Evolving Froakie into Frogadier is relatively simple, as this croaking creature only needs to reach Level 16 for the evolution process to begin automatically.

If you've caught a Froakie that's already above Level 16, then simply raise it by one level and it will evolve. You can speed this process up with Exp. Candy or a Rare Candy.

How to evolve Frogadier into Greninja

Once you've got yourself a Frogadier, you'll probably want to evolve it into a Greninja. To get this Water/Dark-type Pokemon, you simply need to raise your Frogadier until it reaches Level 36.

Similar to the previous evolution, if you've got a Frogadier that's already above Level 36, simply level it up one time and it will evolve automatically. There are no special evolution items required for this process.

That's everything you need to know about Froakie and its evolution! Visit our Pokemon Scarlet & Violet homepage for more guides, or check out our Mystery Gift codes roundup to bag yourself the latest freebies.
