How To Unlock Field Upgrades In Modern Warfare 2

You can unlock Field Upgrades in Modern Warfare 2 by levelling up your Rank in the game's Multiplayer mode. Once you reach a certain Rank, you will unlock the respective Field Upgrade. That said, you can level up your Rank in Modern Warfare 2 by playing the various multiplayer game modes and contributing towards their goal.

For example, in Deathmatch, you get more XP when you get kills; in Capture mode, you can get XP by simply Capturing or Defending points A, B, and C, while getting XP for every kill. Just keep grinding multiplayer matches, and you will eventually unlock every Field Upgrade available in the game.
