Modern Warfare 2 brings back plenty of fan-favourite characters from the original games, the most notable of which is Ghost - but does he die during the campaign? If you cast your mind back to the original Modern Warfare 2 game in 2009, you'll remember that Infinity Ward famously killed off Ghost in one of the biggest plot twists in gaming. With that knowledge in hand, many fans might be worried whether Infinity Ward would be tempted to do the same again with this new reboot of Modern Warfare 2. So, keep reading to find out if Ghost dies in the Modern Warfare 2 campaign.

It goes without saying that you should beware of spoilers for the Modern Warfare 2 campaign beyond this point!

Players will be pleased to learn that Ghost does not die in the campaign of Modern Warfare 2. Despite the character getting double-crossed in the original Modern Warfare 2, Infinity Ward has decided to go in a very different direction with this new title. For a start, General Shepherd plays a much more passive role in the new Modern Warfare 2 campaign. We only ever see him sitting behind a desk, and never out in the field. There's less chance for the General to kill off Ghost from behind a desk, so we're not complaining.

In fact, there are very few main character deaths in Modern Warfare 2. While Captain Price is taken out by a stray bullet in the final mission, we see that he's completely fine in the very last cutscene of the game. Sitting beside him is the whole Taskforce 141 crew, including Gaz, Soap, Ghost, and Laswell. It's safe to assume that these characters are all alive at the end of the Modern Warfare 2 campaign.

The scene is set for a third entry in the Modern Warfare series, although we could still see the story continue in Spec Ops and Warzone. Whatever happens, we hope to see Ghost live through all of it. We're not prepared to live through that emotional trauma once again.
