Kirby's Return to Dream Land Deluxe is a platforming game that's a straight remake of Return to Dream Land, featuring the same gameplay and story, yet with a few additions. The plot sees you helping a character called Magolor after they crash into Planet Popstar.

The majority of the game is a 2.5D side-scrolling platformer, where Kirby uses their Copy Abilities to defeat enemies and progress through puzzles. The graphics have also been updated with stronger outlines and contrast to separate the foreground and background, while some characters have also had their appearances updated.

The game can be played in single-player or coop, where Kirby can be joined by their friends, Meta Knight, King Dedede, and Bandana Waddle Dee, or by different coloured Kirby's. One of the biggest additions to the game, is the new Copy Ability called Mecha, which allows Kirby to don a mech suit and defeat enemies from range. There is also a separate multiplayer mode of sub-games, where four players compete against each other. There is a tonne of new and returning sub-games, with some of them coming from much older games, like Samurai Kirby.
