One such mode is DMZ, Call of Duty's take on the PvPvE genre, which will deliver an all-new sandbox experience like Escape from Tarkov and Hunt Showdown. Is DMZ Free To Play In MW2?

Yes! Modern Warfare 2 DMZ mode, or to be more accurate, Warzone 2.0's DMZ mode, will be free to play as it is a part of Warzone 2.0 and takes place within its new Al Mazrah map, making the loot and exfiltrate mode free to play.

During the Call of Duty Next event that aired on September 15, 2022, we learned about the release date and the free-to-play aspects of the new DMZ mode, along with some other significant details on Modern Warfare 2 and Warzone 2.0.
As mentioned earlier, the DMZ mode will take place in Warzone 2.0's Al Mazrah map, with AI enemies, slightly tougher ones, populating the map, majorly the different Strongholds. Unlike the usual AIs, the ones in DMZ mode will be more reactive to the player's actions, making it a little difficult to differentiate whether it's an AI or an actual player.

That said, the DMZ version of the Al Mazrah map will have different loot and a variety of activities that players can look for and engage in. Similar to what we see with other PvPvE games like Escape from Tarkov, Hunt Showdown, and others, players can opt for different playstyles while playing the DMZ mode. You can go all-guns-blazing till someone kills you from a long distance. You can scout the area, plan and move with caution. Or you can hunt other players for their loot.
When Is MW2/Warzone 2.0 DMZ Mode Coming Out?

As confirmed during the Call of Duty Next event, DMZ mode will release with the launch of Warzone 2.0 and Modern Warfare 2 Season 1 on November 16, 2022.

Once the mode is available, you can download or update to Warzone 2.0 and access the DMZ mode via its main menu. While on many fronts, it is called Modern Warfare 2 DMZ mode, you don't actually need Modern Warfare 2 to play the DMZ mode. As a part of Warzone 2.0, you can access it for free.
