How To Unlock The Thanos Skin In Fortnite Chapter 2 - Season 7
Three years after his initial debut, the iconic Marvel supervillain, Thanos, returns to the world of Fortnite. Thanos was a part of one of Fortnite’s first collaborations. The purple-skinned brute was featured in the Infinity Gauntlet limited-time mode (LTM). In this mode, players could play as Thanos, but only temporarily. Even with all of the exciting crossovers in the years since, Thanos was never added as a permanent skin — until now.
Unlocking The Thanos Skin For Free
Despite his status as the apex supervillain, Fortnite players can unlock Thanos for free. But, it won’t be easy.
Beginning on June 21, players that are at least account level 30 and have 2FA enabled can freely participate in the Thanos Cup. The Thanos Cup will work similarly to previous Marvel Cups such as the Daredevil Cup and the Venom Cup. Players that participate in the Thanos Cup and finish within a predetermined placement threshold will earn access to the Thanos skin completely free.
Thanos Cup Start Time
The Thanos Cup kicks off early evening on June 21 at 6 p.m. BST and runs until 9 p.m. BST.
For the U.S. folks, the Thanos Cup begins at 6 p.m. EDT on June 21.
Thanos Cup Format
The Thanos Cup will be a Duos tournament. Grab a friend and work together to earn Marvel’s notorious supervillain for free.
Outside of the account level 30 and 2FA requirements, there are no real restrictions on who can enter the Thanos Cup. Unlike some other Fortnite competitions, the Thanos Cup is open to players of all Arena Mode ranks.
Players participating in the Thanos Cup will play a maximum of ten matches over a three-hour session.
Thanos Cup Scoring System
The Thanos Cup is weighed heavily in favour of placement points. Competitors looking to place high on the leaderboards should tone down their killer instinct and instead play for placement. However, only the top 1,575 players in the NA East region will be awarded the Thanos set.
The full list of servers and the placements required to earn the Thanos cosmetic set in that region are as follows:

NA East – Top 1,575
NA West – Top 600
Brazil – Top 1,050
Asia – Top 375
Oceania – Top 225
Middle East – Top 300

Additional Ways Of Unlocking The Thanos Skin
Competing in the Thanos Cup is not the only way to gain access to the Thanos skin. Fortnite players that wish to embrace their dark side may purchase The Mad Titan in the Item Shop starting at 1 a.m. BST on June 27. Until then, the Thanos Outfit and Back Bling will be exclusive to Thanos Cup champions.
How Much Will The Thanos Skin Cost?
The price of the Thanos skin is yet to be officially confirmed. However, based on the Item Shop pricing history when it comes to Marvel collab skins, the standalone Thanos skin will likely cost 1,500 V- Bucks. This is the same price point we saw with Ghost Rider, Daredevil, Black Widow (Snow Suit), Silver Surfer, and other similar Marvel-themed skins. But with the Back Bling included, there’s a chance the price of the set will be inflated to 2,000 V-Bucks.
Have those V-Bucks ready on June 27 when Thanos officially lands in the Item Shop.
You are now fully prepared for Thanos’ “inevitable” return to Fortnite. Players can use their skills to unlock Thanos beginning at 6 p.m. BST on June 21. Otherwise, you’ll need to use your wallet to unlock him in the Item Shop on June 27.
