These special side hustles are vitally important to gaining new gear and abilities in Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, but unlike many other components of the game, they’re never directly explained. What Are Research Contracts In Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed?

As you may have noticed when changing out your gear, certain new attachments and upgrades are locked out. The reason for many of these being out of your control is that you are required to complete Research Contracts in order to complete them, and are often required to unlock the more lucrative pieces of gear. If you highlight a locked piece of gear, it will tell you exactly what contract you need to complete in order to unlock it.

These special contracts will often have you completing a couple of objectives, such as throwing your ghost trap a certain distance or capturing a ghost by yourself. Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed also introduces Side Hustle contracts early on in the game, but these operate completely separately from Research Contracts with their separate rewards to unlock.

Unfortunately, you’ll need to go out on a fair few ghost hunts before you even unlock the option to begin taking on Research Contracts in Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed. In order to unlock them you will need to hit level 20. After this point, a story cutscene will take place and players will be dropped into Act II.

Once this prerequisite has been completed, go to the top floor of the Firehouse and visit Eddy’s lab. On the right-hand side, you will see a computer that you should now be able to interact with. Once done, you will be greeted with a long list of Research Contracts, each providing you with challenges to complete to unlock new gear in Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed.
