Get this book to play as a ghost in Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed
Eager to get into the supernatural side of Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed? Here's how to quickly unlock the ability to play as a ghost.
Jumping into Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed to create your own character and take down an assortment of supernatural entities is only half of the fun. As you are most likely aware, the game is an asymmetrical title, in a similar vein to Dead by Daylight, and allows players the opportunity to play as a spirit instead.
For some, this will have been a big selling point and it can be underwhelming to load up the game without the option to jump straight in as a ghost. Unlike other games in this genre, you’re going to have to do a bit of legwork in order to unlock this crucial component, and if you’re curious to know how, here’s exactly what you need to do.
How do you play as a Ghost?
Upon first booting up Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed, you’ll be inducted into a fairly lengthy tutorial and a bit of narrative setup. During this period, you’ll create your character and be introduced to numerous mechanics in the game. The first 30 or so minutes consist of a fair bit of talking and learning how to capture ghosts, but eventually, you will be given freedom.
Unfortunately, when you reach this point, you still won’t be able to play as a ghost. In order to do so, you’re going to need to play the game for a few matches first and level up. You can either do this online or offline in bot matches, it doesn’t really matter. After going on a few jobs, return to the Firehouse.
At this point, you’ll be greeted by the next narrative beat. For us, it happened around the level 5 mark. If you’re at a party with friends, you will need to disband in order to continue the story solo.
You’ll be tasked to visit Ray in his bookshop, where he’ll introduce you to the Tobin Spirit Guide. This talking book will introduce you to the side of Ghostbusters: Spirits Unleashed where you’ll play as a ghost, and a tutorial will begin teaching you all the mechanics to do so.
After completing it, you will be able to play as a ghost at any time by returning to Ray’s bookshop and interacting with the Tobin Spirit Guide on his counter.
