If you've seen the new Aura cosmetic option in Fortnite, you're probably wondering what it's all about. After all, the game doesn't tell you what they are - and there aren't any available right now, anyway.

The arrival of Fortnite Chapter 5: Season 1 has really shaken things up for the popular Battle Royale, with a new LEGO mode, weapon mods, and even a Peter Griffin skin in the Battle Pass. One smaller addition to the game is Auras, which we're going to explain right here.

What are Auras in Fortnite?

Auras are a new type of cosmetic that adds a glowing aura or special animation around your favourite skin in the game. You can see them in action here or in the video below:

You can equip them by heading to the Locker menu and choosing your favourite one. They're not available to unlock right now, as they're tied to the new Fortnite Festival mode, but you'll be able to get them very soon!

When do Auras release in Fortnite?

Auras will be added to Fortnite on Saturday, December 9, 2023, which is when the Fortnite Festival mode goes live. You'll be able to purchase them from the in-game Shop like any other cosmetic.

In this new mode, players will be able to form a band with their friends or perform solo on stage with songs from some of their favourite artists. The mode is built by Harmonix, who created the music game Rock Band.

To celebrate the launch of Fortnite Festival, chart-topping artist The Weeknd will perform a virtual concert.

That's everything you need to know about Auras! Check out our Fortnite homepage for the latest news and guides, like the rarest skins of all time or all of the free skins you can get in the game right now.
