How to find Free Agents and players with contracts expiring in Football Manager 2024
Finding Free Agents, or signing players as their contracts expire, is a great way of snatching up some easy bargains in Football Manager 2024. Sometimes, depending on how much money your club has, you have to be pretty savvy in the market and getting players for free is a great way of doing so.
Below, we'll not only outline how you can find Free Agents on FM24 but also the best way to search for players whose contracts are expiring in the game. As you come to the end of a season, some players will want to leave their clubs and refuse to sign new deals - meaning you can get some great bargains in the game.
How to find Free Agents in FM24
Click to enlargeBy following the steps below you can find Free Agents in FM24 with ease:
- Go to the Scouting tab on the left-hand side
- Now select the Players > Players in Range drop-down
- Create a new search
- A window will appear
- On the left-hand side, you will want to select either Unattached or Expired in the Contract section
- All that is left is to press search and scout the players you’re interested in
The best time to search for players on a free is at the beginning of a season, as the season progresses the best ones will be snapped up - meaning you might miss out on some bargains.
How to find players with expiring contracts

- Go to the Scouting tab on the left-hand side
- Now select the Players > Players in Range drop-down
- Create a new search
- A window will appear
- In the Contract section you can choose to filter by players with contracts expiring in:
- 1 month
- 3 months
- 6 months
- 1 year
Most players' contracts will expire on 31/06 of the year. This isn’t always the case, but nine times out of 10 it will be - so make sure you choose the option in the Contract section that will take you to June.
At the end of each season, you will also get an email outlining all the players being released in the league you’re currently managing. So, you can find plenty of good players this way too. One thing to keep in mind though, is you can sign players from abroad for free when they have six months left on their deal, ready for the following year, while players in the same nation you’re managing have to be in the final month of their contract before you can approach them.
