If you’re going to take on the likes of Shinra and Sephiroth in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, then you’re going to need to make sure that your gear is at its best – so we’re going to break down how to upgrade your weapons in the game and explain how Weapon Skills work when applied to them.

Whether you're collecting Materia or riding Chocobo across the map, there are plenty of ways to get stronger in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth. Your weapons are a big part of that, so having them as upgraded as possible to fit your playstyle is essential.

To upgrade your weapons in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, you essentially need to keep using that weapon to improve its level. As you do and the level increases, so too does its strength and the Weapon Skills that come with it.

While you can upgrade your weapon and its skills manually, there is also the option to auto-upgrade which can focus on attack, defence or a balance of the two.

What are Weapon Skills in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth?

Weapon Skills, in Final Fantasy 7 Rebirth, are additions to your weapons that boost an assortment of stats and abilities, from the amount of damage dealt, as in the image below, to increasing your overall HP.

These Weapon Skills are essential when upgrading your weapon. The more familiar you get with the weapon, the more skills you can unlock and equip. So, don’t be afraid to be a jack-of-all-trades with multiple weapons, or stick with one for a prolonged period to master it.

That’s everything you need to know about upgrading your weapons and getting to grips with Weapon Skills in Final Fantasy 7. Once you find a weapon that’s right for you, be sure to build it up to be the best it can be.
